Max Balzer is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Grimes, IA who attends Dallas Center-Grimes Community HS. Tall lanky build, lots of room to fill out. Back turn delivery with full arm circle, shows lots of the ball in back, opens front side early, complicated delivery with lots of variables to work through but arm is loose. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly straight, throws strikes with his fastball and is aggressive. Two types of breaking balls, good depth on 66 mph curveball, slider is shorter and flatter and acts as a cut change up. Right handed hitter, bouncing load with hand hitch start, swing load complicated like his pitching load, line drive swing plane, pull contact, aggressive and attacks the ball. Good student.
