Thornton is an "04" RHP/1B. At 6'4/190 he has great size and looks good with room for even more strength. He very much is a pitcher first. In Wareham he stayed in the low 80s, but his fastball looked much better than that. He sometimes gets on the side and cuts his heater, it's a good pitch. He threw a real good 73 mph breaking ball. Most pitchers who can throw 73 mph breaking balls have the arm speed to throw mid to higher 80s. Our guess is that Thornton will throw at least mid 80s if he doesn't already. He competes and knows what he's doing on the hill. Tyler is a good student.
