Schlemeyer is an athletic outfielder with good strike-zone judgement and a contact hitting approach at the plate. He is a switch hitter with a similar swing from each side and handled the wood well. At 5 foot 11 and 155 pounds, there is a lot of room for growth and development. His actions at the plate are good and smooth and his tendency to swing at nothing but strikes is a good early habit to develop. He took all of the outside strikes to right field and showed that he can turn on the inner half pitch. His arm is a good one presently showing 82 mph velocity and his foot-speed is also good with potential to improve. He appeared to have a good understanding of how to play both infield and outfield and we think he will show big improvements as he grows into the good actions he showed in Waco. Colleges need to follow him.
