2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Spencer Hylander is a solid strong bodied 6'0/210 2005 left hander from Conroe, TX. He has a high leg kick in his delivery and a smooth arm stroke with a high ¾ release point. Hylander pitched a bit nervously at the start of his Showcase appearance, but settled down nicely after that. His fastball topped out at 83 mph with some good running action down low in the strike zone. Hylander’s curveball was 67 mph with some nice downward break to it and he threw a 71 mph change up that showed promise. Hylander had an adventurous showcase on defense at first base as well. He made a couple of miscue’s early, but came back and made a couple of eye opening diving stops that were very entertaining. He has a very good strong body, and he can hit, with power projection. Spencer is an excellent student.
