2004 Underclass National Showcase
Stefan Morris -- Morris is a sophomore catcher with very good athletic ability for his position and age. He runs MLB average underway and shows above average quickness behind the plate in shifting and blocking balls. Morris’ arm strength still hasn’t developed yet, but he has the makings of a good defensive catcher if his throwing comes around. If he doesn’t end up catching, Morris can find another position on the field because he showed us very good hitting ability, especially in batting practice. Morris generates very good bat speed from a medium stance with a nice stride and load. It looks like he has very strong hands because he gets the bat moving very quickly into the zone. Stefan has the athletic ability to play many different positions. If he gains close to average MLB throwing ability, he'll be one of the highest ranked catchers in his class.
