2004 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Toland is a 2005 from South Weymouth, MA with a slim 6'0"/170 pound body. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. He does a good job of staying tall and throwing downhill. His fastball does run and was consistently 78-82 mph. His curveball was 64 mph with a 11 to 5 break. He also showed a split finger fastball that was 71-75 mph that he has good feel for. He has a good feel for the craft and is a very polished pitcher. He showed good accurate arm strength with his 81 mph throws across the infield. As a hitter, he has a short, line drive approach with minimal movement. Paul is a very good student.
