Tyler Smith is a 2011 RHP with a 6-0 187 lb. frame from Nederland, TX who attends Nederland HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength. Simple delivery mechanics, full clean arm circle, good direction to the plate, high 3/4's slot, some effort at release. Consistent 86 mph fastball, touched 88 mph at times, fairly straight. Nice 11/5 curveball with good bite and depth, got in good groove with CB and pounded the K zone, rare change up. Good hitting tools, present bat speed, good balanced approach, compact swing, squares it up, ball jumps well, could develop as a hitter as well. Good student.
