Miguel Barrientos is a 2005 catcher/third baseman from Toa Baja, PR with a mature build with good strength throughout his body at 5 ft. 10 180 pounds. He hits with an open stance with high hands away from his body. He generates a lot of bat speed with a good swing plane that has loft and extension. He shows projectable gap to gap power. He is a very good left-handed hitter. He is aggressive on the base paths and has a good overall feel for the game. He shows excellent athleticism for a catcher with a 7.13 in the 60 and a 4.52 home to first. He is a good defensive catcher with quick actions and a strong arm. He popped a 1.95 in the workouts and a 2.04 in game put out with a very good accuracy. He is solid defensively with a mature ball player attitude, and he will hit very well at higher levels. He was one of the top catchers at the showcase and he will be one to follow closely this year.
