2004 Underclass National Showcase
Matthew Stefany -- Stefany is a very projectable 6-0 junior third baseman from Florida who impressed us with his hitting potential. Stefany hits out of a wide stance with little load or stride and has a smooth, fluid swing with some loft to it. If he fills out his frame and gets strong, Stefany is going to hit with lots of authority, especially pulling the ball. Stefany’s defensive actions in the infield are OK but he may end up at first base or left field in the future, especially if his bat comes around nicely. Stefany is a superior student who should catch the attention of the top academic schools.
