WP - Mark Smith is a 2005 LHP/1B from Las Vegas, NV. Mark is 6'3", 175, with an extra large frame and a lean, young body. He has long arms and legs that will hold up as his body matures. Mark showed his athleticism by running a 6.89-60. His swing was short to the ball and showed good bat speed. He is a very disciplined hitter with plus pitch recognition that allowed him to show his gap to gap power. Offensively, Mark has good upside and could evolve into a very good offensive player. Mark showed a back door curveball with nice late bite. From a 3/4 arm angle he was able to hit his spots and showed good mound presence. Mark threw his 83 mph fastball across his body slightly that created more movement to go along with his downward angle.
