2004 Underclass National Showcase
Marc Avelino -- Avelino is a big bodied junior from Pennsylvania who has good upper body strength but could firm himself up some. He threw 4 innings at the National Underclass, spotting a 75-79 mph fastball effectively from a standard ¾’s arm slot. Avelino’s curveball was 64-65 mph and he did a good job of throwing this pitch for strikes consistently and keeping the hitters off balance. Also throws a nice splitter that seems like his out pitch. Marc runs very well for his size showing athletic ability. He's a good student.
