Lyle Atkins is a 2006, 6'5", right handed pitcher from Katy, Texas. Atkins looks like he’s bigger than his listed 195 lbs. right now, and he definitely has the frame to get extra strong in the future. Atkins throws from a tall, simple delivery that maintains his leverage and plane to the plate. He accelerates his arm well through release with some effort, but doesn’t get ideal extension out front on any of his pitches. Atkins' fastball was 81-83 mph with good life down in the zone. He varied speeds on his curveball from 63-64 mph up to 69 mph, and had very good spin and sharpness to this pitch at times. Atkins also threw a couple of change ups that had some sink. Atkins' body, delivery and the quality of his secondary pitches are all present strengths for him and he’s very projectable.
