Kevin Keyes is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Connally HS, residing in Austin, TX. Keyes has a strong, powerfully built 6'3" 205 lb. frame. With his performance and showing of his tools, he was ranked #12 among PG National Top 100 position players and selected as an Aflac All-American. One of the more physical hitters in the '07 class, Keyes showed the power and bat speed that will have scouts projecting big power numbers for his future. Not only is he swing powerful, but he is short to the ball and when he is aggressive, he makes a lot of contact. He has the ability to not only hit for big power, but to also maintain a high average. Keyes' power plays to all fields and actually might be best to the opposite field. His hands are quite good, allowing him to let the ball get deep and trust his whole field power. In the outfield Keyes shows the tools that should allow him to stay in right field as long as he can cover the ground. His arm is a major plus and he combines that with very good accuracy. His routes to the ball are pretty good. He ran 4.55 home to first and 7.09 in the 60 so he should be able to cover a fair amount of ground. It would appear that the more Keyes plays against top competition, the more comfortable he will become in all phases of the game. He is a future big run producer, possibly a Carlos Lee type if you project to the highest ceiling.
