2003 Western Underclass Showcase
Walston was one of the top hustlers and scrappiest players at the Western Underclass Showcase and really impressed us with his approach to the game. He’s very aggressive about taking the extra base on offense and uses his hustle to be a first rate defensive outfielder. Walston is a 7.3 runner who plays faster than that. He’s not quite strong enough to swing the wood with authority right now but did a good job of recognizing pitches and jumping on fastballs over the plate and curveballs and hitting them where they were pitched. He showed a good arm from th OF and he should hit with power at the next level. He has outstanding hitting skills that will only get better as he gets even stronger.
