In the circle, Graclyn is a right-handed pitcher who throws a fastball, flip changeup, screwball, off-speed curveball, dropball, and riseball. In the past six months we have seen her make improvements on almost all of her pitches. In general, her leg drive off the mound has grown and she stays on her powerline well. Her fastball sits in the low 50's and she did a great job speeding up her changeup a touch, bringing it in at 39mph. She sells the pitch well. Her screwball has grown in it's spin rate and she is spotting it better than ever. Her offspeed curve breaks well and at 45mph, it is a perfect middle ground between her fast and changeup. This is a very effective pitch to both get ahead of hitters and as an out pitch. As she continues to work on her sequencing and timing of her plant and snap, her velo will continue to rise as will the tightness of her spins. She is moving in the right direction and we have enjoyed watching her growth.
Defensively, she continues to grow as her ability to stay down on balls has improved as well as her agility to balls put in play. She shows a strong overhand throw and proved she can make accurate throws when it counts.
Offensively, this right-handed hitter shows a balanced swing. She stays behind the ball well, demonstrating solid contact point awareness and the ability to spray the field. She is a solid placement hitter who is effective at driving the ball gap to gap. It is apparent she sees the ball well and has good tracking ability at the plate. Her hands take a good path to the ball when firing. Overall she has a solid swing and is showing consistent improvement throughout the months.
