2004 Underclass National Showcase
Joe Carbone -- Carbone is a 5-9 junior catcher out of Illinois with a lean frame. We really enjoyed Carbone at the showcase because he’s one of these players who’s always hustling and seemingly in the middle of everything. He’d probably bat boy and run the radar gun if you asked him to. Carbone has a good, balanced fundamentally sound swing that produces consistent contact but he’s still a bit undermuscled to swing the wood with authority. Carbone’s hands and feet work well on defense and he’s better suited to catch than to play second base. He’s a solid student as well.
