Jay Spear is a 2008 RHP/1B/3B with a 6'3'', 245 lb. frame from Watertown, CT who attends Watertown HS. He has a big, wide shouldered frame that carries his size and strength well. Spear has a balanced, online delivery with a long arm action and a low 3/4 arm slot. Jay shows a sharp 10 to 4 slider and a nice change-up with good armside run. We have seen Jay in the high 80's before and still think this is the range he probably sits in. He is a player that should be a highest-level college prospect in the next year.
