Defensively, Iyana Merino showed off a strong arm from the outfield, making throws to 3rd and home look easy. With continued work on her defensive skill set she will be one to watch. She has a high level athleticism and with some small refinements in the outfield, she will be a top recruit in the area.
Offensively, Merino is a strong right-handed hitter who starts in an athletic stance. She generates some serious barrel whip, resulting in next level pop. She fires her back side well and has great front side resistance. She has quick hands and turns on the inside pitch well. Has homerun power and is overall a great hitter. She not only has pop, but she moves well on the base path as well, making her a true triple threat! We believe she is an athlete who can definitely compete at the next level!
