Jared Waits -- Waits is a live bodied junior second baseman from Florida who impressed us with both his offensive and defensive skills. Waits has quick actions in the field with a nice short release and plenty of arm strength. He has the same type of quick actions and balance at the plate. Waits takes a full, aggressive hack at the plate for his size and does an excellent job of making solid contact. He takes his hands right to and through the ball and stays on the plane of the pitch well. Waits is one of the few hitters who didn’t strike out once in three games and lined 3 hard hits as well. He also runs very well with good instincts. With just a little more strength, Waits is a very good hitting prospect whose bat projects well to the next level. He’s a very good student as well.
