Mayer is a 2005 IF/RHP from Trumbull, CT with a solid 5'10"/170 pound body. He showed good athleticism in the field along with solid mechanics. At the plate, he showed good discipline with a good feel for the hitting zone. Although he showed potential as a two-way player, his future is on the mound. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short backside and hides the ball well. His fastball is deceivingly fast at 84 mph with excellent tail. He showed a good 10-4 curveball at 74 mph with tight spin. His best pitch is his change-up. He throws it at 67 mph with great sink and diving action. This is a big time pitch. He will definitely get guys out at the next level. Andrew is a very good student.
