2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Anthony Finocchi is a 2008 3B/P with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from Pittsburgh, PA who attends Baldwin HS. He has a solid, mature build with very good present strength. Finocchi looked very solid at third base on defense. He fields everything cleanly with good lower half balance and makes accurate, on line throws across the diamond. He threw 85 mph during drills and shows his arm strength in games. He seems to have the lower half quickness right now to play at the next level. Offensively, Finocchi has a good hand strength and some bat speed. He looks to have some gap to gap power but tends to get long with his swing right now. Finocchi has a older brother who is currently in AA with the Yankees and the scouts and coaches at the showcase said you could see the similarities between them as hitters at the same ages. Finocchi also pitched, throwing 82-84 mph from a low effort delivery and doing a good job filling up the strike zone for a secondary pitcher. His 68 mph curveball has good consistent spin as well. He was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
