Francisco J. Ortiz is a right handed pitcher from Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, with a good big frame at 6'4", 205 lbs. He is an athletic pitcher with a herky jerky motion and a slight lurch to the plate from a very high 3/4 arm slot. Ortiz topped out at 90 mph, and worked at 86-89 mph. He had good run on his two seam fastball, and showed very good command with both the two and four seam fastballs. Ortiz has a solid curveball, and threw only one change up. Ortiz is very projectable, and he has good extension on all of his pitches. Ortiz has the body and raw tools that pro scouts are looking for. He is a pitcher that needs to be followed closely.
