BJ Juergens is a 2008 SS/3B/P with a 6'1'', 195 lb. frame from Dubuque, Iowa, who attends Hempstead High School. Juergens has a medium frame with present strength. He has solid speed in the sixty (7.12) and he showed quickness on the bases as well. Defensively he threw 78 mph across the diamond. At the plate he hits from a straight away stance with a slightly crouched stance. Juergens has strength in his swing that allows him to make solid contact, especially to his pull side. He shows bat speed through the hitting zone that should allow him to catch up to higher velocity pitching. Juergens gets leverage at the point of contact that produces raw power. He is an aggressive hitter who puts the ball in play. His upside is at the plate where his bat should play in the middle of the order. He is a very good student as well.
