2026 PG Preseason HS Prospect Showcase
Preston Wetherell is a 2029 C/RHP/3B with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Windermere, FL who attends Windermere. Smaller young build with lots of growing ahead of him. Right handed hitter, sets up in a straight stance with a short hand load and shift, has a short hands driven swing, gets to his front side early and gets the barrel out, high contact swing approach. 8.02 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up in a square stance, has good footwork and replaces his feet well, gains ground into his throws, under control in his actions and makes accurate throws, game actions in drills. Took a turn on the mound, works from a full side step wind up with a high leg raise, short stride down the mound with a 3/4's arm slot, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball sat in the low 70's and was thrown for strikes. Also threw a basic 11/5 curveball and a developing change up. Might benefit from a longer stride down the mound. Excellent student.
