2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Adam Akin is a 2006 MIF/OF from Evansville North HS in Evansville, IN, with a 5'8'', 165 lb. frame. Defensively Akin has soft hands with smooth footwork around the second base bag that will allow him to play either middle infield position. His throws were 72 mph across the diamond with good accuracy. Akin is a switch hitter with a short, compact, and level swing plane from both sides of the plate. Akin showed more power from the right side and really looked for the inside pitch that he could turn on. He stayed balanced from both sides of the plate with good bat speed and solid hand strength. Akin is a contact hitter with gap to gap power. Akin plays the game hard with intensity, and is an outstanding student as well.
