Elkins is a 6-4, 195 lb senior right handed pitcher from Virginia. He throws from a deliberate delivery with clean pitching mechanics and good balance through release. He has a long, smooth arm circle in back and is tall and upright at release. Elkins throws a heavy fastball in the 80-83 mph that is most effective down in the strike zone. His 72 mph change up was a good pitch with nice hand speed and some sinking action. Elkins also threw a 66 mph curveball with a big, rolling break. Elkins threw strikes with all his pitches and maybe sometimes spent too much time in the middle of the plate. He's a finesse right hander right now who looks like he could develop a bit more power to his pitches as he matures. Good Follow. Elkins is also an outstanding student.
