Jacob Jones is a 2023 LHP/1B with a 6-4 216 lb. frame from Greensboro, NC who attends Greensboro Day. Large, well-proportioned frame with some lower half strength and room to physically mature. Recorded a 7.63 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Simple operation with coiled leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 79 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Pounded the zone effortlessly, fastball plays up due to some deception within his delivery. Sweeping slider has swing-and-miss tendencies with tons of horizontal tilt to it. Flashed more vertical curveball with late depth and replicated changeup to complete four-pitch mix. Secondary first baseman with deliberate footwork throughout the fielding process. Displayed clean funnel and accurate throws up to 77 mph across the diamond during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from a wider base with a inverted toe start. Incorporates a high hand set and leg lift trigger for timing. Leveraged stroke with strength in his hands and fairly consistent impact to the pullside. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments. Excellent Student.
