Jackson Steensma is a 2022 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-4 225 lb. frame from Byron Center, MI who attends Byron Center. Primary right-handed pitcher with a high-waist big body frame and solid build. Side-step to compress the slab with a higher leg-lift to drive off the backside down the slope with a quick arm and high slot delivery. Ran the fastball up to 86 mph with a curveball in the low-70s and a changeup as a third offering in the high-60s. Pretty direct line at extension with solid break and shape on all three pitches. Secondary position first base with good footwork around the bag and arm strength on throws across at 85 mph. Present fundamental actions while fielding and on the turn with accurate throws. Switch-hitter at the plate with a balanced start from both sides of the plate. Sits in his legs from the right side with bat wrap around the upper-half during separation and stride. Longer swing from the right side with contact approach and bat path. More impact from the left side of the plate with a shorter swing and direct path. Pull side approach with leverage out front and loft to the swing. Excellent student. Named to the East Cobb Showcase Top Prospect List.
