José Zayas is a 2021 RHP/ with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Kissimmee, FL who attends Sunshine Academy. Large frame with a lean build showing room to fill out physically, making him projectable. Primary Right-Handed Pitcher, working with a side-step to a higher leg lift trigger out of the windup. Compact arm action in the back before releasing from a tough three-quarter slot. Did a good job staying online to target as he drove off the back leg and got down the hill. Lively fastball out of hand as he proved he could work it to both sides of the dish while up to 84 mph. Mixed in a solid slider as well with late sweep in the mid-70's. Rounded off the three pitch mix with a changeup that looked to be his most advanced off-speed pitch that dove off the table late. Knew his arsenal and mixed it up as he had hitters guessing for the duration of his outing. Projects well on the mound going forward with plenty of upside still showing. Outstanding Student.
