Ethan McCormick is a 2020 SS/ with a 6-1 158 lb. frame from Glen Burnie, MD who attends Archbishop Spalding. Long and lean frame with plenty of projection and room to fill with time to do so. Ran a 4.91 second 40 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out in front bending at the waist, soft hands at gather making all plays, sound transfer from glove to hand, average arm strength that should continue to improve as he matures, topped out at 79 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, sets up on the first base side of the rubber, simple side step to a high leg lift separating hands high, tight arm action up to a high 3/4 slot, leads with hip down the mound landing closed, cuts himself off some but arm continually gets through circle on time, showed some angle to fastball with occasional sink, fastball topped out at 81 mph, mixed in a sharp curveball. Righthanded hitter, open stance with a high hand set and a high back elbow, short hand path, gets rotational at times, flat bat path through the hitting zone, hits the ball out in front with extension out in front, some whip to barrel at times with components to like present in swing.
