Jacob Walsh is a 2021 1B/LHP, 1B, OF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Desert Oasis. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary first baseman with deliberate footwork while working off the bag and centering the baseball. Works underneath the baseball while funneling with fluid glove actions. Released from an over top arm slot producing softer carry across the infield. Left handed hitter with an event, balanced stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Simple path to baseball with a naturally leverage barrel plane. Flashed fluidity in swing and primarily looked to create lift to the middle of the field between the gaps. Also pitched showing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall at gather and worked to the plate with tall and fall actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from an over top arm slot. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum well through finish. Fastball created occasional downhill tilt through the zone in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball showed 1/7 shape with looser spin and some depth in the upper 60's. Also displayed developing feel for a changeup in the low 70's. Primarily looked to attack the bottom of the zone with fastball offering throughout each inning of work. Very good student as well.
