Matthew Evans is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Happy Valley, OR who attends La Salle College Prep. Slender young middle infielder's build, lots of room to get stronger. 7.34 runner, gets behind the ball well on defense and works low and balanced to the ground, has clean hand and a clean exchange, lower 3/4's throwing slot, throws have some carry. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a good on line stride into contact, hands start low and are short and direct to the ball, good balance and consistent contact, will continue to improve offensively in tandem with how much stronger he can get. Also pitched, simple turn and throw delivery, very calm and low effort mechanics, stays tall and directional, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with good downhill angle, curveball showed tight spin and some bite, threw strikes, solid secondary pitcher. Good student.
