Calvin Marks is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Central Catholic HS. Large frame with long limbs, broad shoulder and wiry strength. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.61 sixty yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Loads weight well to back side at gather and lands in line while driving to the plate. Breaks hands early at times with a deep arm circle and releases from a long, loose arm action. Fastball generated some downward plane to the plate with good running action to arm side between 81-84 miles per hour, topped at 85 miles per hour. Flashed a cut fastball as well that had solid late action to glove side in the upper 70's. Curveball had 1/7 shape with tight rotation and late, sharp depth. Filled the zone effectively with the ability to reach each edge of the plate with fastball and cut fastball offerings. Showed good poise and command while on the zone with the willingness to work to the inner half of the plate often. Arm action and frame projects for additional velocity with continued physical development. Left handed hitter with an open stance and high back elbow set. Loose, extended swing plane through extension with present bat speed. Shifts lower half into baseball well with linear actions. Flashed good jump off the carry with good carry to the pull side gap when aggressively turning the barrel to baseball. Very good student. Named to the 2016 National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
