2020 South Top Prospect Games at Texas A&M
Grant Fahrlander is a 2022 C/3B with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Bee Cave, TX who attends St. Michael's Academy. Grant is an outstandingly skilled catching prospect in the class of 2022. In addition to his noticeable ability behind the plate, Grant is also a highly acclaimed student. Grant has few peers, in his 2022 class, with the gear on. His set up is smooth and easy. His confidence at the ready certainly reassures his staff. His hands are soft and his limited movement and low profile give umpires an unobstructed view of each pitch. This particular skill is not readily seen at this level. His quick feet and under control transition allow him to gain ground and trigger quickly. His strong arm, as evidenced by his 1.95 pop time, allows for throws to hold their plane and be consistently accurate. His throws are true and firm. Grant has all the tools as a catcher, to not only play at the next level, but to excel. Grant also displays advanced ability with the bat in his hands. There is a relaxed feel to his operation which is very simple and pure. He starts with a lower hand set and utilizes an easy, short stride...just enough to get his weight moving. His sound lower half helps produce plus torque as he rotates through. His swing path is short, quick, and direct. He keeps his head still. He has a flatter plane with noticeable lift at contact. He displays an advanced feel for the barrel. He shows a certain ability to drive the ball with force to the gaps. Plus consistent raw power ability is present. Although he is more likely to be a doubles guy than a HR hitter, make no mistake, Grant has the strength and swing operation to hit the ball out of the park. Grant is a top prospect, especially considering his advanced ability behind the plate. Bottom line - Grant Fahrlander will save runs defensively and produce runs offensively. Unlimited ceiling.
