AJ Donofrio is a 2019 C/1B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Far Hills, NJ who attends Gill St Bernard High School. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned well throughout frame. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, does a nice job of receiving the ball out front, slight turn in stance behind plate, gains short ground with lower half leading into release, strides open, repeats actions well and gets on top of throws, arm strength will continue to develop. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a patient approach at the plate, full swing path through the zone and looks to generate lift at point of contact. Shows strength off the barrel when squared and best contact came when extended out front and turning on the ball. Able to generate bat speed through the zone with physical strength and shows quickness to hands with balance in swing. Good student.
