Jacob Mantooth is a 2020 2B/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Kennesaw, GA who attends North Cobb. Medium and wiry frame, plenty of time to continue to fill out and grow physically. Ran a 7.56 second 60 yard dash. Primary second baseman, showed off his range to both sides moving well laterally during drills, hands play out in front, fields ball in a slightly upright position, gets in a good position to throw, stays balanced throughout actions, average arm strength across the diamond coming from a long arm action, topped out at 76 mph during infield drills. Secondary righthanded pitcher, short arm action up to a side arm slot, creates some varying life to his fastball coming from his slot, armside run and sinking life as well, fastball tended to straighten out when up in the zone, arm works well, works quickly filling up the strike zone and pitching to contact, lands closed coming down from a hip turn at the top of his delivery, flashed a sweeping slider in the low-60s. Righthanded hitter, wide base with a high hand set to start, small leg lift trigger into swing, drops hands into load, should work on keeping lower half and front knee especially in an athletic stance for more momentum driving into contact, single plane swing that could be loosened up for cleaner results.
