James MacCallum is a 2019 C/3B with a 5-11 205 lb. frame from Sandy Springs, GA who attends Marist High School. Medium frame, strong build, compact lower half, and room to continue to add strength. Primary catcher, showed a clean arm action, stays low through reception, gains ground well, and showed good accuracy to the bag. Raw arm strength from behind the plate with a workout pop time of 2.02. At the plate, started with a tall, open stance, narrow base, high hand set, and a high back elbow. Inside out swing with a short hand path to the ball. Linear swing plane with ability to impact the ball off the barrel. Torque through lower half with intent to drive the ball. Best contact up the middle and will improve consistency with additional leverage in swing.
