2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Matthew Rowe is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Metuchen, NJ who attends Metuchen. Athletic frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy run to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Slider showed 9/4 shape with tight spin and late tilt to glove side in the low 70's. Consistently changed speeds effectively keeping hitters off balance. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean footwork while closing to the baseball. Reads hops well while funneling the baseball. Clean exchanges and released from a compact arm action. Throws produced stiff, accurate carry to the bag at 84 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Shifts into contact well with lower half. Compact hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Effectively threw barrel head to contact displayed present bat speed. Primarily looked to work to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Named to t he 2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
