Zach Chalfin is a 2023 SS/RHP, 2B, MIF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends La Costa Canyon. Medium sized frame with decent lateral mobility in the infield. In addition, he showed proper footwork and glove technique as well as an accurate arm with some carry on the throws across the diamond. At the dish, he sets up with short stance with barrel at shoulder length. The bat path is linear with advanced feel to match plane and drive baseballs through the middle. Barrel control was impressive throughout the round. On the mound, he works with hybrid windup. His mechanics are tall and fall with release out of a high three-quarters slot. He definitely, could benefit from utilizing the lower half more. The fastball sat 72-75 mph (2125 rpm) with some life through the zone. He can create some arm side run at times. The command was pedestrian but effectively climbed the ladder with the heater. He flashed a curveball that sat 60 mph (1875 rpm) with slurvy type break. 7.40 60-yard. Good student.
