PG Grade: 8
David Nolting is a 2006 catcher/right handed pitcher from Slidell Louisiana with a solid build that shows good physical strength at 6 ft. 1 205 pounds. He hits from a slightly hunched stance, and keeps his hands very low. He has a short swing, and he generates good bat speed. He showed big time power to the pull side, with good gap to gap power potential. He hit a couple balls deep to the opposite gap in BP, and then finished with a bomb that he crushed to left field. Behind the plate, he receives the ball with soft hands, and he has very good blocking skills. He has a strong, accurate arm with a 2.14 pop time. On the mound, he pitches from a 3/4 slot with a short arm action. His fastball topped out at 80 mph. He also threw a small slurve at 70-72 mph with decent break. David is a solid catcher, with very good power potential that will be a good prospect in 2006. He is a good student.
