We’ve seen Hurd at a number of events during the last year and he’s always excelled in the team environment. Hurd is a strong, physically mature athlete with good strength in his hips and hands, which makes him able to drive the ball well into both alleys. He’s got some good power potential and is a very aggressive dead-red fastball hitter. There isn’t much question in our minds that he’s going to be a very good college hitter. Hurd’s lower body quickness is best suited for third base, where he has good soft hands and playable arm strength. If he could get a little quicker, we could see him playing short or second base at the next level, which would make his bat play even better. Bottom line is he can and will play at the next level.
