2005 Spring Top Prospect
Besch is a senior second baseman from Wisconsin with good present strength on his 6-0 frame. He’s a left handed hitter who uses his strength well to create bat speed. Besch hits from an open stance and is very busy with his hands in his set up. He’s a rotational hitter with little weight shift but his hand strength enables him to drive the ball pretty well. More lower half involvement could really open up his power and enable him to pull the ball more effectively. Right now Besch’s best contact looks to be up the middle and to the left side. Defensively, Besch has quick feet and is a good runner underway. He plays a balanced second base and his arm strength probably plays best at that position in the future. Besch is an outstanding student with top of the line grades and scores.
