KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Jazmyn Brown is a 5'3, class of 2026 RHP/OF from Holden, MO who attends Holden HS. Jazmyn is an emerging talent, with projectable college ability, especially as a pitcher. She showed outstanding straight line speed as evidenced by an impressive 3.21 20-yard dash, a time that is elite for her age group. Her 1.07 5-yard split burst was one of the better times in the event regardless of age group. A primary pitcher, Jazmyn is well on her way to a stellar career in the circle. She has a very athletic delivery with an obviously quick tempo. Her shorter arm stroke adds a great deal of deception to her operation. Her fastball has a late sink component and is thrown with impressive spin. She likes to work her FB to the arm side edge. Her change is unique in that it looks a little like a knuckle-curve and was thrown with perhaps the best hand speed of the day. Plus pitch. Her rise ball is a short, quick, late breaker. A couple of her rise balls at the end of her bullpen showed explosive ride late. Really sharp and impressive. Upside is outstanding. Jazmyn also took a turn in the OF and showed commendable, projectable ability. She reads the ball off the bat well and positions quickly. She plays through the fielding action with impressive momentum. Her glove is sure and steady. She transitions well and has a solid arm operation. Her sound 57-mph throws hold their plane and are routinely accurate. Jazmyn is building confidence at the plate and has an emerging approach that will serve her well as her career continues. She starts with a wider base and has a short, flat and direct path to contact. She is still working on her consistent ability to track the ball to the barrel, but her operation is solid and will pay dividends as her career unfolds. Lots of promise in her offensive game. Jazmyn is a gifted athlete who obviously loves playing the game. Her positive body language and great effort are noticeable and should help her as her career continues. Big upside promise for this talented player.
