Eli Mathis is a 2028 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-5 205 lb. frame from Jonesboro, AR who attends Valley View. Tall and strong projectable build with lots of physical projection remaining. Primary outfielder/first baseman on defense who also has two-way potential as a right handed pitcher. 7.04 runner in the sixty. Showed his arm strength well in the outfield, still developing his footwork and athleticism through the ball, made accurate throws. Left handed hitter, sets up in an open stance with a big front side load and close, gets into his lower half and has a well connected swing, loud pull side contact with leverage and strength at contact, power over hit at present but it works for him. Works from the stretch on the mound with a simple flowing delivery down the mound, clean mechanics and arm action. Fastball topped out at 83 mph with nice carry through the zone, lots more velocity there maybe in the near future. Slider was a quality pitch with tight spin and sharp bite. Filled up the zone with both pitches. Also flashed a firm change up. Named to the PG National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
