PG Grade: 6.5
Thomas Godfrey is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame from Las Vegas NV, who attends Sierra Vista HS. Godfrey has an average body and a compact build. He can do an awful lot of what is expected of a left hander to be successful in the game, certainly at the college level. It is reasonable to suggest that he will gain some velocity simply by getting older and more developed. Beyond that, what he can do is pitch and compete. Godfrey's arm works well and easily, from a high 3/4 slot. He pitches in two planes with his fastball, above bats and in the bottom of the zone. He also showed the ability to turn over a two seamer and get good run. Godfrey pitches of his fastball with a very good curveball. His breaking ball has 1/7 shape, with tight spin and quick, sharp action. He throws that pitch with very good feel. At times his curveball has the look of a two plane slider. Godfrey holds runners very well and has a nice pick-off move. At the college level he has the repertoire, pitchability, and moxy to be a successful reliever. He gets a ton of ground balls and throws strikes. Godfrey is a strong student as well.
