2006 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
David Thomson is a 2007 OF/RHP/MIF from Millbrook HS in Raleigh, NC with a 5'11", 160 lb. frame. David has a lean athletic build and showed solid actions in the outfield. At the plate David hits from a tall no stride approach and shows some good bat speed. Often times David does not appear ready to hit the ball forcing him to go opposite field a lot. If he gets his hands started earlier he will drive the ball all over the field more consistently. In the outfield David moved well to the ball and has good outfield actions. He showed good carry on his throws and his best position is clearly in the outfield. David had a brief showing at the showcase on the mound where he showed a short compact arm action and was efficient with his pitches. David has solid outfield tools and just needs to make some adjustments at the plate. He looks to be a smaller college type player.
