Gene Trujillo is a 2023 1B/RHP/OF with a 6-5 215 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends St. Pius X. Outstanding young athletic build, has present strength with the chance to get really strong. Left handed hitter, has a naturally lifted swing that gets the ball in the air consistently, swings hard and has present bat speed, swung the bat very well in games and really showed his power potential, drives the ball to all fields. 7.68 runner, has good athletic actions at first base, made some nice picks in the games showing good hands and balance. Also pitched, long and loose arm stroke with a big leg lift delivery, low effort mechanics leading to a 3/4's arm slot. Mid-70's fastball topped out at 77 mph, worked low in the zone with good sinking action and pitched to contact, didn't show a secondary pitch. Bat is his tool and it's a good one. Excellent student. Named to the Lone Star Showcase Top Prospect List.
