Brian O'Connell III is a 2023 C/RHP/OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Greensboro, NC who attends Eastern Guilford. Well-proportioned frame with some lower half strength. Recorded a 7.11 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher that receives from a slightly staggered stance with soft hands, a quick mid-line transfer and good direction towards his target. Gains ground out of the crouch with step-and-replace footwork, produced online and accurate throws with game like actions during drills. Showcased arm strength up to 74 mph from behind the plate during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with simple movements into a higher leg lift and good balance down the slope. Fastball worked in the low-80s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 84 mph from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with some ability to generate carry at the top of the zone with his fastball. Mixed in a still developing slider as his go-to secondary offering with short, sharp bite when thrown with conviction. Right-handed hitter that hits from a even based stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and small leg lift trigger. Displayed consistent bat-to-ball skills with some feel for the barrel and loud impact when in--sync. Showed plenty of bat speed and will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments, better usage of his lower half into launch and additional strength.
