Loftin is a 6-3, 210 lb left haned pitcher from Texas with a mature build. He throws from a big leg raise delivery with good balance and a calm finish on his release. Loftin has a high 3/4's release point and consistently comes across his 78-80 mph fastball on release, creating a cutting action to the pitch. Loftin's slider is 71 mph from the same release point, which helps its deception. His best pitch was a 68 mph change up that he maintained solid arm speed on. Loftin is a crafty pitcher who knows what he's doing on the mound and can be very effective with his ability to change speeds and create movement on his pitches. One would think that he might have some more velocity in his big and strong body as well. Loftin is a good student, too.
