Luke Weichel is a 2023 C/UT with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Brookeville, MD who attends Sherwood HS. Luke is an emerging athletic player who possesses a frame and build that will unquestionably add muscle and strength as he moves through his HS career. In addition to his growing talent on the diamond, Luke is also a commended student in the classroom. he ran a 7,64 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, Luke shows a sound fundamentally based approach to receiving. His balanced set up allows for his hands to work quite well, He gains ground quickly. His transition is consistent. His 75 mph throwing velocity and quick trigger is evidenced in his 2.08 pop time. His throws show solid carry and accuracy. At the plate, Luke starts with an even and balanced base. His drive to stride is short, quiet, and quick, which allows his noticeably quick hands to work well. His swing operation from both sides of the plate is consistent and shows plus average feel for the barrel. Solid contact guy who will develop some gap power as he matures. Luke has the tools both behind the plate and with the bat that should allow him to climb the ladder and become a prospect as he gains experience and matures physically. There is a lot to like about his game. Solid young player!
